DHA on skin

What is DHA?

Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is an active color additive ingredient in spray tan solution that reacts with proteins on the skin’s surface layer to temporarily darken the skin. DHA only affects the dead skin cells that rest on the surface of your body. DHA is not absorbed through the skin or into the body; as a result, DHA is an FDA-approved chemical that has been used in cosmetic products for over three decades.

Are Spray Tans Safer Than Sun Tanning?

Sunless tanning, specifically spray tanning, is a safe alternative to sun tanning. Laying out to tan in the sun exposes your skin to UV rays that can damage your skin cells. Sunburning is a common symptom of over-exposure to UV rays, and studies have shown a connection between severe sunburns and skin cancer.*

Airbrush spray tanning is a much safer option for achieving the perfect bronze glow. The ingredients in spray tan formula are FDA-approved and, if applied properly, do not come with any negative side effects related to skin cancer. In addition to the health benefits of sunless tanning, custom airbrush spray tans ensure you will have an even tan that looks great and makes your skin feel great.
